    i was reading to the thread and i kept thinking EXACTLY what was posted on this one. i concur completely. that is one of the first things i look at when having one of these "mint ostmedailles". if i dont see this definition i just pass on it.

      Pascal, here's a sample from the painting referred to. It contains the same "flaky" substances as seen on the paint from the OM. The paint is a Humbrol, used for plastic models.

        Well, I finally put my questionable Ostmedaille to the test.

        It survived acetone.

        It also "passed" with Dio-Sol, a model paint thinner made by Floquil.

        I still was skeptical.

        It did not pass the akvavit test.
