            Well people:

            1. Anthony is correct. This medal DID exist.
            2. However, considering the price and rareity, I doubt the ones on e-bay or the one shown is original

The one shown appears to be the third class version .. estimated in 2001 to be approximately $15,000 US

                Well, you learn something everyday.
Must admit that medals are not my field.
Is there ANYTHING out there that someone has not copied, faked or forged?

I think Karl Hanke was awarded that thing during the siege of Breslau.

A copy. Not a very good one at that. If you look on the Axis forum you will see this and the responce, plus photos of the originals and fakes

                      Hi all,

commomly knownas the `order of the dead` this poor copy should be buried in the scrap box
I am thinking of the top of my head it was only awarded about 10 times (the first 9 posthumos ?)
