It seems that every week now there is a thread dealing with the escalating price of TR militaria on any one of our forums. It's quite simple, if the price is too high for you then don't buy. The prices are not going to go back into the past that some of us choose to remember. The trend now (as Phillipe noted) is focusing on a much narrower field. The days of collecting a bit of everything is done IMO. So, carpi deium!

Fine looking badge! I'm not about to criticise the person who wants to spend the asking price because it's their money to spend as they wish. OK the Dollar price looks high but the Dollar is weak at the moment against other currencies. I too have paid well over the odds for something to fill a long term gap in my collection, especially if the condition is right which this one is.
15 years ago I saw a Piranesi print in a shop window, the price was high but it was a very early edition and a view that I'd always admired. I'd just had my annual bonus and could easily have afforded it. Instead, I went to have a coffee to think it over and when I went back to the shop someone else had bought it. I've always regretted missing that print and I've never seen another as good or as 'cheap'. I learnt a lesson that day, if you want it and can afford it then have it whilst you can because you'll kick yourself if you don't
Happy collecting! Peter .

I guess I was born a little too late for that. Oh well, I guess I'll try to keep "the old days" alive through my slow growing collection.

If you ask about the collecting business getting out of hand ... tried looking at what houses sell for now days (compared to even 5 years ago)?? ... must be dealers raising their prices because people want them too ...
