    Ostvolk Decor. f. Bravery-for review

I would like to get your opinion bout this Tapferkeitsausz. f. Angeh. d. Ostvoelker 2. Kl. in Bronze. Is this the 3-rd type of this medal or the post-war restrike?
It is made of zinc, but its condition seems to be too good.
Thank you in advance for your comments.

Based on the width of the ribbon I would say this is post-war.

Thank you very much for your comment, Ian.
Indeed, on the previous photos ribbon looks too narrow. I think, my camera was not placed parallelly to the decoration and crated false image. The width of the ribbon is 30mm.
In this post I show details of the ribbon. Do you see any "Red Flags", even, if the width is correct?
I imagine, the medal itself is not easy to judge just based on photos.
      Best regards,
      Klaus

Ok, just measured some of mine … 30mm is correct.

Really crisp detail. Is it an S&L?

Best I could do in a rush as I left the house this morning ... 30mm ribbon.

Mine is Wachtler & Lange '100' marked.

            Ian

            P.S. I wasn't aware that S&L made these during the war ?

My medal does not look like the Type 1 with flat reverse or the one manufactured by "100" (Type 2). It can be either the latest version, unmarked and fabricated in late 1944/45 (Type 3) or post-war production. I do not remember of this decoration was accepted in 1957 Regulation.
I think, I will show the photos on the 1957 Forum. Maybe, collectors specialized in "1957's" will identify the manufacturer: S&L or somebody else.
              Best regards,
              Klaus

I placed photos on the "57" Forum.

                The information I got is:
-Original image of the Medal for the Ostvoelker was accepted in the 1957 Regulation. Therefore there was no need to produce the "57"-variant.
-However Souval and S&L produced those decorations after 1945. If my piece was manufactured before or after 1945, it is difficult to say.

In the meantime I found three threads on WAF related to Ostvoelker decorations. My medal seems to be very similar one attributed to J. Keller manufacturer, which is recognized by some collectors as controversial piece. I could not find the picture of post-war S&L production.

Thank you very much for all your comments and reference photos.

                Best regards,
                Klaus
