Two EKs on one ribbon bar???

Both Detlev's and Helmut Weitze's site contain ribbon bars that should be. As far as I know it!

On both site there is are ribbon bars with both the 1914 EK II and the 1939 EK II. What's the story?

Granted the 1914 EK II device could turn out to be Hohenzollern ribbon.

Is it me, or is this just odd.

Don't bother looking for pix-- don't need 'em. No real bar could have an EK2 1914 combatant and an EK2 1939: that's what the Spange was for. We are being swamped in a flood of fake and parts bars: the ones that are as blatantly bad as this sort are no problem.

Yup, Rick is right. Absolutely impossible to have both EK2.

        Best regards

But it can't be wrong if Detlev Niemann is selling it. Perhaps the ribbon is a Hohenzollern decoration off which the ribbon bar device has fallen. The 1914 EKII ribbon was used on other decorations. I have a Bavarian ribbon bar, taken off a body by my grandfather in WW1, with two Prussian combat ribbons as used for the EKII. There's no device on the bar, though.

Yes Prosper has put it nicely, I know you cannot have two EK in wear, that is why the spanges were awarded. Prussia used the black white ribbon for more than just the EK so it might be a different decoration.

                2 ek's => no way

                Hello,

I have looked again at Detlev's site and the ribbon bar in question => it is just My humble opinion that the ribbon in question is not a EK 2 1939 ribbon !!!!! making this ribbon bar perfectly legit => please go back and have a good look , there is small black stripe on each side besides the black strip making this ribbons colours as following :

red, black, white , red ( inner part ) , white , black , red

while a EK 1939 's ribbon is to be found in the following colours :

vlack, white, red ( inner part ) , white, black

BUt now remains the question => wich award is it ? it takes precedence behind a Hindenburgcross and before foreign awards ( Turkisch ) ( I think the Imperial guys can help us out here )

                Cordial greetings,

                  the answer is

                  Hello,

I have borrowed the image from our good friend Detlev's site ( so full picture credit is For. Mr. Detlev Niemann ) and I thibnk i did found the answer already

                  IMHO this is a ribbon for the Prussian Red cross medal 3 e class ( 1898 - 1918 )

So this thread is actulally more one for the Imperialists amongst us

                    David,

I also looked at Detlev's website without finding any ribbon bars featuring two Iron Crosses' ribbons. Perhaps someone got confused with the Prussian red cross ribbon, which looks almost like a WWII Iron Cross, but it is not quite the same.

On Weitze's webpage however I found a ribbon bar with both ribbons of the IC 2. class, first and second WW. Considering the disposition of the ribbons, I can say that is pratically impossible (see below).

                    Ciao,

                    Claudio

                      RE: The bars

The Detlev bar has a Prussian Red Cross Medal, 3/4th class. I was able to buy both bars Detlev listed last Friday, both had an abundance of Turkish awards on them! Here's the photo of the second one. Regarding the Weitze bar, NFG. It seems to me that Charles, and some others, have bought quite a few iffy, if not outright NFG bars from this source. My advice to you guys is before you plunk down your hard-earned plastic, let us take a look for you! Seems a shame to tie up your money for 4-8 weeks with shipping here, and shipping back being what it is lately.

How can a dealer of Weitz caliber let such a obvious mistake get by? I mean come on, bought, photographed, and listed..and no one noticed?

Manion's, now "The Pay TV Of Collecting," is still, somehow, in business.

                            My error!

                            Apologies for the histerics!!!!!

I will fall on my sword for that one. . . It's called looking again closer. . . next time I will not rush to judgement!

I am disappointed at Herr Weitze. . .but relieved that Detlev was cleared of any misdeeds
