    Paratrooper Regiment 6 Soldbuch

Soldbuch of a paratrooper in Fallschirmjäger Regiment 6.
    Opened in february 44.
Until this time he served 3 years in the Luftwaffe. He came to Fallschirmjäger Regiment 3 in early 41. To late for paricipating in operation Merkur.
In late 41 , the regiment was sent to the Newa front. There he got wounded by shrapnel hits.
After hospital he spent some time with Brigade Ramcke in africa. There are several africa pictures and pictures at the Akropolis in Athen in his picture album.
It must have been between august and november 42. Obviously he got no Afrika cufftitle, because he didn't stay longer than 6 month in africa an didn't get an award, to fulfill the requirement for the cufftitle.
In 1943 he joined the deployment of the 2. Fallschirmjäger Division in Italy and came to the Stabskompanie of Fallschirmjäger Regiment 6.
He stayed in the Stabskompanie during all the restructuring of the Regiment 6.
In february 44 the new Solbuch was opened. Several informations of the old SB got taken over into the new.
In june 44 he was in the near of Carentan , during the allied landing in the Normandie.
Later he took part in the withdraw trough the Netherlands.
Short After the arrival in the Hürtgen forest, he had an serious accident, which broke his frontal face bones . He spent the rest of war in Hospital. His injuries were such serious, a new Soldbuch picture has to be made.
After war he married in 1952 and had one son.20191112_192100.jpg20191112_145535_wm.jpg20191112_192313.jpg20191112_145714_wm.jpg20191112_192347.jpg20191112_145956_wm.jpg20191112_192132.jpg20191112_192144.jpg20191112_192116.jpg20191112_192252.jpg

That is a very nice grouping! He certainly saw a lot of action in distinguished units.

This is the first time I have seen a grouping to a FJ who fought in the Hürtgenwald campaign. When I toured that area with a German veteran years ago, he took us to a bunker where the US Rangers fought members of FJR6.

Now I understand why you asked about the sleeve patch earlier. Will have to check the book on the Ramcke Brigade to see if it contains an answer.

He suffered quite some damage to his face.

The Feldpost number is from Kieferchirurgisches Lazarett (Maxillofacial Surgery) Kriegslazarett-Abteilung 614.

100% you can say, he was since 25.02.1944 in FJR6, the day , the Soldbuch was opened. But the circumsatantials show, he got the Erdkampfabzeichen by the 2. Fallschirmjäger Division on 26.06.1943 . So he seems to have been in FJR6 at this time. FJR6 was formed in january 1943 by parts of the Brigade Ramcke. It is very probably, he joined the Regiment from the very beginning

Yes your are right. Have some portraits of a member of the Ramcke Brigade and also in the beginning of FJR6, MIA at June, 10 1944.
