Unfortunately one of the six photos escaped us both.

A FJ friend of Marco and I... Willi Fretz who volunteered and fought at Monte Cassino also did not go through jump training. Shortages caused by combat losses created this situation.

Very typical that Model 35/40/42 helmets were worn by late war Fj's. Interesting features in your third photo on the non jump helmets is the camo on at least three or four of the helmets and one of the FJ is wearing a four pocket tunic instead of a flieger blouse.

Thanks for sharing your pics and information

    Bill

In this picture, out of 10 men only four wear a paratrooper helmet, the others, probably drafted from various Luftwaffe units, wear the regular helmet (mod.35, 40 or 42).

Here is a FJ in Italy wearing a field made Italian Camo Jacket. This is out of a photo album I just picked up and is on the way to me. The album has Italian and German Paratroopers in it. I will post more pics when it arrives.

Sadly not up to the standard of Bill's, and many other's, very fine photos, but still interesting I think. Two "in the field" Fj photos.

                Kerry,

Thanks for sharing your FJ snaps with us. I wish all photos were sharp and clear but yours and quite a few of mine are not. This of course isn't our fault and in many cases the soldier themselves did not how to operate their cameras properly.

                                Gehlert,

                                Thank you for the ID.

I posted a Italian Camo Jacket photo under #2734 that is in a photo album I recently picked up. I have just received that album today so I will post some pics out of that album.
