    Early FJ Insignia

Was finally able to add this piece at this year's Max Show, something I have known about, and wanted, for years. Machine sewn tabs with gulls pinned through the tabs and collar of a greatcoat to a member of the Fallschirmschützen Bataillon (IV./RGG).

    - Jäger Bataillon (I./RGG) - Dec. 1935 to Oct. 1937. Attended parachute training at Döberitz starting in Jan.1936. Wore white tabs with gulls and green piping.

    - Fallschirmschützen Bataillon (IV./RGG) - Oct. 1937 to Mar. 1938. Wore white tabs with gulls and yellow piping.

    - Fallschirmjäger Regiment I./FJR1) - Mar. 1938 onwards. Obviously golden-yellow tabs with gulls.

Goes nicely with my DD M36. Imagine all the jumps which were made in this helmet before it was modified with the M38 liner assembly, and left behind in Norway in the spring of 1940.

Give a man an opinion and you feed him for a day,
teach a man to use the "search" function on the WAF and you feed him for a lifetime.

              Hey Willi,

here is a picture in wear ...

Otto Seidel is a former RGG paratrooper ... Some were transfered to III./FJR 1 as you probably know ... But still his old RGG tabs on ...

              Regards
              Stephan
