    Opinions on FJ ring please

I just received this ring from a guy who bought some old trains from the widow of WW2 Veteran. In the bottom of one the boxes were some WW2 German and U.S. items. He called the widow to let her know and she said she had no use for them and he could keep them. He does not collect WW2 items so he sold it to me. This ring was one of the items. From what I could find the maker's mark F * is Frey Company, Pforzheim, Germany. But there is no LN mark. It's engraved with what I think translates to "For remembrance of" 1941-42" It has very nice detail but I know there are great copies of rings. I would appreciate your opinions.

Looks like a cast piece, imho not original.

The amount of rings I trust is under 1%..
Rings all over the place, some obvious fake, some quite believable..
Rings are quite easy to create for people in the branch, it all depends what their skills are..
I've had many chances to buy pilot rings, geschwader rings, luckily I did not, because later on I found them on the web, new, worn, ground dug, all the same questionable types ..
        There's a difference between I like or, Yes, it's 100% original.
Rings sell easy, I've noticed, but do people know what they are buying ??

        Very tricky stuff.

        Jos.

Might I suggest a ring forum? A lot of experts here- Ric, Antonio, Gaspare, even Don Boyle who has rejoined recently... and yes- VERY difficult collecting area!

Most rings being cast therefore not a determining factor.

Most modern rings are. These were usually stamped or die struck pieces, including honor rings. Casting has been around, and there’s some disagreement amongst the gurus on it- but outside of some handmade and jeweler finished pieces, ones like this would either be the struck and mass produced version or a finely made private purchase piece. This ring is a poorly cast mass produced piece at best, in interpretation/ imitation of a period piece imho.

                cast is a problem.
Mass produced made for retail sales rings were not cast during the 3rd reich period. They were pressed.
This is a well known postwar ring. ,, actually, a copy of a copy.

I thought that casting was used in this period as well as stamped. I have not seen this ring anywhere in my searches. If it is that common they should show up on the web. Can you please post a picture just like this one. Thanks for all responses.

Every ring, no matter how rare, how obscure has been reproduced. Some in large quantity,,some only a few,,,but be assured,,every ring , even line drawing prototypes and designs never produced have been made postwar..

Well so much for the story about how the guy got the ring. I thought I had found an authentic one. Just another of the endless copies. Thanks to all for all of your information and time as always.
