    Jump trousers

New on the Collector's Guild site: a pair of late war jump trousers. Seem to be real, and for $6,450 I would hope so ! Am I out of touch , or is this expensive ?

Also a pair of gloves and a nice Tan/water smock (SOLD).

    regards

    Steve.

    Hi Steve,

Even for an absolute mint pair, and those aren't, the price is way out of line. But then, if you need them, some may say "what the hell". There is always someone who pushes the envelop.

You are looking for a water pattern smock?? I just looked at one yesterday that is still available.

      Hi Steve and Willi,

There is another set for sale (at what I would call very serious money) on a NL dealer's site. They are cheaper than the CG set but I have no idea whether this dealer is above board or if the pants themeselves are legitimate. See:

        Hi Mike,
They are authentic, and have wear. They are mis-shapen, probably from cleaning, and the cuff tapes are replaced.

        regards,

          Hi John,

Thanks for that. Not my area of expertise at all but thought the steer might be of assistance to Steve. All the best,

          Mike

              Hi to all,

I hope that someone can help me out on this one because I have never heard a satisfying answer yet..

I currently own two pairs of trousers that are 100% identical to the FJ trouser except for one thing; they don't have the slits and pockets on the knees for the knee pads and the knife. They never had any.

They are both LBA stamped and are fieldgray in color.
There is a picture in Kurtz on page 49 of identical trousers.
I have heard stories stating that these trouser are late wartime (mine are 43 dated!) issue. The lack of slits were explained that the knee pads were worn over the trouser later in the war and that the knife could cause jump related injuries
The most hilarious explanation I heard was that they were intended for glider borne troops.

Any comments or suggestions as to why these trousers are around?

              Cheers,

              Ben

                Hi Ben,

I think they are Luftwaffe panzer trousers.

                  Hi Steve,

You are correct, they are Luft. assault gunner trousers. Scarce trousers, but not as rare as jump trousers, so sometimes bad guys add slits and a knife pocket to pass them off as jump trousers.moremad

                    Hi guys,

                    thanks for the info.

Never knew that the luftwaffe had their own assault gunners garment. Just always assumed that they would wear regular army issue.
I have a friend that says that he has a picture of one of these trousers actually being worn by a smockless FJ. Will see if it's true and if I can get that from him. I'll post it if I do.

                    Cheers,
                    Ben
