            Hi,

Excellent and rare find. Some are in private collections in Normandy.

            Thanks, David

That is one of the nicest ground-found E-Types I have seen.
                  \Very nice indeed - !

What a prize - how much of the internals are there? Is the bolt and charging handle still inside.

Needless to say you looked around where it was found to see if the bayonet was still there?

Great find, and thank you for sharing!

The one that was found in Russia - and shown on the firearms section of this forum was in far worse condition than this beauty - I offered $5K for it - he held solid at $12K and it sold in a matter of days.
(It had no bipod and the trigger guard was flattened, etc.)

I was surprised at the time how stubborn the seller was - as it was my first foray into FG42 water - I am a little more experienced now - and not surprised at all.

An E-type like this is very rare - and if one were inclined and wealthy enough to use the correctly qualified craftsmen, this could be a tasteful and very authentic looking restoration project - or, left as is, an incredible relic.

By the time of Normandy, the G-type was the FG42 of choice, the mags for the two models did not interchange - I wonder how difficult it would have been to locate spare mags for this E-type, by 1944, you could have kept using that original bandolier, I guess. You guys probably know more about Luftwaffe and FJ supply and command - but food for thought.

An interesting pic, Italy, I think, from Axishistoryforum Weapons section - only relevant to this thread because of the FG, but interesting all the same.

Incredible find but for me, no FG42 in the FJR6.

In Normandy, the FG42 was with the 3 FJD.

                          Best regards
                          Ben

does someone own or have pics about this belt for the flare pistol cartridges ?
was it field made and specific "fj" or.......?
