    Authenticate Para Helmet

I am new to WA so bare with me. Spent the better part of two days reviewing posts on FSJ helmets. Seems lots of members disagree with one another; shell is bad, liner is good and vice versa. Don't like the camo. Many don't like camo but don't let that get in the way. Yes this helmet is original or no it is not AND why it is not. I originally listed this on C Gottlieb's new DIY auction site and someone(?) felt so strongly this helmet is a fake he asked me to take it down...which I did. I feel just as strongly that it is not. For someone to duplicate the kind of aging and wear this helmet displays would be quite a task. Maybe it was done in China where labor is cheap

I would be happy to post additional photos of whatever area you would like to see. I can tell you the liner itself would be a daunting task. It is very pliable and soft and also tears very easily. Black lite does not cause stiching to fluoresce. Check out the pics and I welcome all comments. Thanks fellow collectors.

Whoops! How do I upload more than two pics from me PcC?

New info, I forgot to mention there is a handwriten entry on the liner opposite the mfgs stamped message. It is the name "Karl H or M and five more characters I just can't make out. The next line is Berlin something unreadable and the third is D.R.G.M. and possibly a fifth mark. The meaning is unkown to me but perhaps someone can enlightem me.

Camo is definitely, 100% bad (post war). Absolutely no doubt about it.

Also, eagle decal is 100% fake. Absolutely no doubt about it either.

As to the liner, I don't like it and it is probably fake as well.

Lastly, based on the few pictures, the shell has a very good chance of being fake as well.

"For someone to duplicate the kind of aging and wear this helmet displays would be quite a task. "

You should gain more experience before dealing with such helmets as the camo paint "jumps out at you" as being fake.
There are plenty of fake camo helmets around, many of which or more convincing then this one, so the task does not seem to be insurmountable.

This is an easy one look fake ! I can even smell the wash's & filters used from here.
When ever the contrived rust bleed is that bright....run you dont even need to look any further.

If you are happy with the lid, good for you.

Personally I don´t like wear, aging and bright rust in the paint.

                      Sorry...."one looker".....EVERYTHING is bad.....
The "Karl H." markings are part of the "normal" liner markings for this "version"....only on this helmet they are "fake".... of course!

Walter is accurate and this is all you need to know, a very bad fake indeed.

I agreed, but I didn't want to act in haste. I did ask him to take the auction down, and I further asked him to post photos here on WAF, and am glad that I didn't put my foot in my mouth on this one. I'm very sorry you have a bad helmet - nobody likes to hear that.
