As far as the trip-Yes the helmet was in the back of my mind. When the ladies went shopping it was all I could do from screaming. Did I mention that I had to rent a car to go pick it up?
I have had two opportunities to buy a para helmet but I wasn't content. These were at shows.
As we all know it's the hunt that makes it worthwhile. This one was not going to get away from me.
I did wonder about the liner. I too thought that a bigger one was put in and bent down. It's impossible to take it out due to the bolds being practically welded. So it stays as it is as I don't want to mess with it.
          Thanks all for the comments.

Enjoyed reading this, its often when you least expect anything to come out of the wood work that something does. I'm not a religious person but perhaps divine intervention came into play and it was meant to be for your part in taking your mother to see the Pope

That is probably one of the best correlations I have ever heard. You know, the Pope is German after all isn't he? Interesting how things like this play out - congrats again on a killer find!

Yes, I'll have the steak, medium rare, red wine and the para helmet on the side.

Waffel, In the summer of 2000 Pope John Paul II was still alive and kicking.

But this is the most Roman Catholic Pope related helmet story I did ever hear of.

Jose, Congratulations with a great helmet and an even greater story.

                              Best regards

Perhaps there was divine intervention. I mean my mom wanted to see the Pope. I had to go from California to Texas. We had to drive from El Paso to Dallas. We had to eat. I had to see the helmet there. I had to convince the owner to sell it. It all worked. It would never have happened if my mom had not wanted to see the Pope.
I feel like lighting a candle.
