      Justin,

The badge is a piece of crap, IMHO.

      Bob,

Not sure what ROFL is an acronym for.

This raises an interesting question though. Does anyone own, or has anyone ever seen, an original LUFTWAFFE version badge with a period engraving? Not to say they are not out there but I never have.

If anyone has pics of originals examples can you please post them here.

            Thanks,

            EQ

Not me Eric. Have seen names and initials scratched on the backs of wreaths but never engraving.

I have seen a LW pilot's badge engraved in the back with the name of the recipient, but this can't be an explanation or an liby to other pieces as this was part of a group to a Spanish Blue Squadron pilot and must take in mind that common fashion in Spanish Air Force was to engrave the name and license number of the pilot on the back of the Spanish Flying Wings so this pilot probably deceided to do the same on his German badge, I can't say if this was wartime or postwar, but I see othe german pieces and he put his name in almost everything incluiding his dagger and all were beautifull jeweller engraving, not scratched. This is only a small drop in the sea of the normality, I have seen WB engraved and EK I and thanks to a forum member a DKiG, but for every engraved piece I have seen ten that were only scratched, sometimes with good finish other times looking like child learning to write.

Looking for DKiG Heer winner Soldbuch who also won the TDB and/or CCC, specially in Silver.

Sorry, I should have clarified that. What I meant to say was I have never seen an original Lw. version PARATROPPER badge with period engraving. Would like to hear from anyone who has.

                      Thanks,

                      Eric

                        Giday,

I have never seen a Luftwaffe para badge that was engraved with the name of the owner that I thought was good. With regards to the few engaved badges that I have seen, it was obvious that the badges themselves were reproductions.

Eric, I would be interested in reading your comments with regards to the engraving. Have you seen other period pieces that were engraved in a style of lettering that was similar?

                        All the best,

                        Ian

                          ROFL= Roll on floor laughing.

Look at the seller's other 'winners' and that will demonstrate the 'quality' of his offerings.

                            well then....

Overall though, I thought it wasn't uncommon to find engravings on the backs of proficency and qualification badges?
