Got this today, no maker but for sure real since came in a vet estate buy.
Is this a late war badge?

Hi Giorgio,

Yes, this is a late wartime badge IMO, made by S&L.

As you probably well know, S&L badges are controversial because of their known postwar activities. However, I don't think there is a question with your badge as there are several physical characteristics that we can see on it that are consistent with S&L's wartime production, such as the lack of flaws on the eagle wing, the "wartime dimple" on the pin, the solid rivets, latewar brennlack finish, etc.

Finding it in a vet estate is just the icing on the cake that helps confirm these are wartime badges.

yes Tom this was found in the trash can in Costa Mesa CA with the uniform and the hat.
The hat has a name on it and will try to get it, the seller sold me this but wanted to keep the uniform and hat

FJ badge

Just a side note. I bought the para badge from georgio. However the story with this is incredible. It was found on an FJ officers uniform: jacket,pants and named cap in the trash It also had a silver wound badge that I am trying a acquire. why can't I find things that this in the trash.
