I found these 2 pictures on the Internet.
About the other picture (FJ in Holland) I am not quite sure, but I think the FJ in the middle of the picture carries a grenade bag .

Here are 2 of My Kreta photos with Blue Grenade bags. There are quite a few pictures of Paras carrying Grenade bags in Klaus J Peters book Fallschirmjager Regiment 3 Volume 2

I am guessing that they only had blue grenade bags on Kreta ? The other styles and or colours only came later on in the war, does anyone have more info on this ?

Here is one of a FJ in Tunisia with a splinter camo grenade bag. I know I have a better view of this one soemwhere, but this will have to do for now.

Shaun, I agree based on what we know today (something new always seems to pop up however), that blue bags were worn on Kreta and that splinter ones came out after Kreta. Obviously, the olive RiRi zippered ones with RBNrs came out even later. I can't say I recall seeing an olive one with metal zippers. Maybe one day a photo of splinter bags on Kreta will surface.

One FJ veteran told me that in 1944 he had only seen blue ones being worn by his unit. I questioned him about both the splinter and olive bag, but he hadn't seen them. Since he was in a Pionier unit I was surprised.

                    Correct Willi!

                    RKT Manfred Büttner it is.

The bags are also partially visible in the photo on the left.
