I have never seen an original (army) one of these. And that statement still stands after looking at this.

Have left my comments on the original thread.....without revealing too many secrets. Here is a much better looking job of making a fake Luft M37.

                Hi guys,

Are these fake are made from origional helmets? What a shame. It looks like some effort was put into them.

Question, why does the M37 have the slots? Were they for attaching ear or chin protection? Please let me know. Thanks.
                Steve

So only one of the straps could be worn when on non jump status.

Most of these fakes originate from Northern Italy. They first appeared on the market around 1993. I saw my first one at the 1993 Max Show in Baltimore. I think it sold for $10,000 then. Yes, they are using original DD M35s. They use apple green Herr ones and bluegray Luft ones.

You might want to check the archives here in the FJ section, because we have discussed these in the past.

There are only a few, as in 5 or 6, original M36 and M37 helmets out there that we know of. It is unlikely that I will ever get to own one. Cost and rarity.
