Looks like a czech helmet with some pretty bad weathering. Chris

Hi Arjan, the helmet you show is a Czech made fake. Look at the photo at the bottom left, which shows the helmet profile. Study this photo and compare the shape of the helmet shell with an original. You will see that the rear flange is at an incorrect angle. Once you learn to recognise this you will be able to spot these fakes with ease.

      Cheers, Ade.

Sounds to me like you've just lost it, Si...

Arjan, as often stated already, best way to learn is to handle an original yourself. If you know someone who owns a real one, see if you can make an appointment, so you can have a good look at it.

          Frank.

            Hi Frank

Welcome to the forum, unfortunatley I don't, however, if there's any one living in the west Country or near by and would like to show an FJ helmet to me and take me through the finer details - drop me a line.

Or even better, if anyone has one they would like to donate to further my education please feel free
            Regards

Ins't it possible to show 2 pictures to see the difference in angle, or are these chzeck helmets still reproduced. Cause the they might change the angle.

Anyway thanks for pointing out that this is a reproduction.

It just looked like a nice helmet for my collection.

Hi Arjan, as far as I know these helmets are still in production. They have no need to change the dies as they sell well enough despite the faults to uninformed collectors...

Thankfully to change the die would be expensive.

                Cheers, Ade.

Ok, so luckily for us the didn't looked at an original before reproducing these helmets,

Still like the design, but prefer an original, I saw Bill Shea had a nice "new" example, but a bit out of my league,

                  Thanks for all the help,

                  Arjan
