..today is May 18; exactly 60 years ago the last German Fallschirmjäger abandoned the ruins of the monastero and the hills around Cassino, after to have completed theirs it must, beyond the symbol for which they fought. They were men before still that soldiers. A thought for who, between they, has left on those hills its spirit in order always.

Thank You Peter... we should not forget those men... 1000 Polish soldiers was killed... 3000 wounded.. and 350 missing in the final battle.. a huge price of victory...

I have spoken about parachutists why this is a forum on the parachutists; but it is normal that my thought went to all the fallen of that historical battle. I make excuses myself if I have given impression to have forgotten them. is not therefore

Marco, will you (or have you) attend any of the events associated with the 60th anniversary? I had planned on coming over for the combined Cassino/Nettuno/Anzio event, but just couldn't swing it.
