I have ordered the book by Kurtz...thank you. I am mainly interested in field/combat uniforms, headgear & equipment, especially pertaining to Crete and North African campaigns.
        Any other advice greatly appreciated.
        good collecting,
        Peter.

            Hi Peter,

I highly recommend John Hodgin's book if you are interested in the FJ in Afrika. Really well done and great pics covering all the aspects you mention above:

I thoroughly recommend - 'RED SHINES THE SUN: A PICTORIAL HISTORY OF THE FALLSCHIRM-INFANTERIE' by Eric Queen.

                Regards Richard.

Always looking for Luftwaffe Kampfflieger related document groups. In particular anything to Kampfgeschwader 2.

Tom's book is a MUST have if you have any interest in para badges. It is the ONLY reliable, complete reference on Fj badges.

As Richard said, Eric's book is "top shelf" as well, it's focus is Army paras.

The Kurtz book is an excellent all around reference, but has some errors in it.

A superior book on Crete is "Fallschirmjäger in Crete" by Jean-Yves Nasse. Jean-Yves's "Green Devils" is another must have.

The focus of my book is tropical uniforms and equipment worn by Fallchirmjäger in Africa, this will be expanded upon in a future volume.

"Fallschirmjager- Equipping the German Airborne soldier " SOLDAT Vol 8 by Chris Mason is a worthwhile book - especially if your interest is uniforms and fieldgear. Not perfect, but an affordable price .

The best books are the ones already mentioned.
