Great thread as always! It was such a tragedy of war that so many of the 36th Texas outfit lost their lives crossing the Rapido. It's much appreciated and an honor that the people of San Angelo continually remember those GI's who lost their lives that day in January 1944.

Where is St Angelo in relation to Cassino town ship?I know a lot of Texans lost their lives on the Rapido or Gari (Ive never worked out the difference),great to see the people of Italy havent forgotten and paying their respects.

For the exact location of St. Angelo I show you below a map.
The difference between Rapido River and Gari River is that shortly before Sant'Angelo (and after it went through Cassino) Rapido river joins the Liri River and becomes the Gari River.
