Real jump smock or bogus?

I think it's a neat smock. The extra buttons John B pointed out are something I've never seen before but are clearly period done. I agree with Steve that the slipshod stitching around the eagle is characteristic of declining standards towards the end of the war. I also agree that the subdued eagle is cool and scarce; only one of my smocks has one, and it's a tan/water, not a splinter. Plastic zips in a splinter smock are uncommon, too, in my experience. Overall a fascinating original example in my opinion.

John, the T&W smock that I bought last year with your assistance has the interior of the top pockets lined in a very vibrant splinter pattern. Interesting to see this usage of the material.

Neat Jack! That is a very fine tan-water you added! I really like the ones of heavier material. You often see tan-waters with many small fabric parts in splinter, .... waste not! The small side waist tabs with snaps, the neck hanging loop, inner re-enforcements, all these are often made of splinter material on tan-water smocks.
