Could they have made an error.

I recived the military records on my Oma's Uncle and they have him listed in Fallschirmjager Regiment 2, also the Volksbund has him listed in Regiment 2. Now reviewing his records and the areas of comebat I believe he was in Regiment 1. The reasons why I'm thinking that is because they say he saw action in Rotterdam during the invation of the Neatherlands. In Russia it says he was in the the area of Rshev and finally that he was in the 1 Fallschirmjager Division. What do you guys think.

    Thanks,

    Chris

I think you might be mistaken. It is mentioned that he was part of Transport-Kompanie Flieger-Division 7. This was, as mentioned in the letter you recieved, active during Fall Gelb Holland on may 10th 1940. Little is however known about their where-abouts in Holland. There are 2 recorded KIA in Holland that could have been part of them, but also not. The only small written "history" I know is a small written one in the BDF Mai/Juni 1980, where it is mentioned most involved in Holland recieved an EK.

The letter you recieved mentions he was with 5./FJR2 and later with 9./FJR2, which was part of 7 Flieger-Division. 7 Flieger-Division became 1. Fallschirm-Jäger-Division. It then mentions where 1. FJD was. So far it all seems correct to me and I see no reasons to doubt it.

All be that Regiment 2 was in the 7th Flieger Divsion, Regiment 1 and 3 were also in apart of it. From what I understand during the invasion of Holland Regiment 2 was in Den Haag while Regiment 1 was in Rotterdam. In Russia Regiment 2 was in the areas of Stalino and Volkhov, while Regiment 1 was in Leningrad, Volkhov, Rshev and Orel. Then Regiment 2 was not in the 1 Fallschirmjager Division, Regiments 1, 3 and 4 were. Regiment 2 was in the 2nd Fallschirmjager Division along with 6,7 and 23. His records doesnt exactly line up with Regiment 2, lines more up with Regiment 1. Thats why I'm wondering if maybe they made a mistake.

He was with the Transport-Kompanie first, and this unit was airlifted into Holland. It used captured and conviscated Dutch vehicle to transport troops and supplies.
II./FJR2 minus 6./FJR2 (jumped on Valkenburg) was also airlifted into the Rotterdam area.

Was is mentioned after 9./FJR2 doesn't point to FJR2, but to 7. Flieger and 1. Fsch.Div. Thought correct information, it doesn't have anything to do with FJR2. I've seen the same with other letters from WAST, but have no idea why they do it like this.

Sorry for the late reply Ypenburg , did not notice that anyone had replied. The volksbund also has him listed as Fallschirmjager Regiment 2. So what you had said prior, he may have belonged to a Fallschirmjager Regiment from the First Fallschirmjager Division?

I was at my grandmas and she showed me a picture of her uncle that I hadn't seen before and in the picture he has a Fallschirmjager Regiment 1 Cufftitle. So that answers my question, what they have on their records saying he was Regiment 2 was wrong, he was Regiment 1.
