Guys, are you sure this is a bad cufftitle? I ask because I don't have that much experience with them (cloth has never been a strong point of mine!), I'm interested in adding one to my collection and it appears that this same example is now on the E-stand.
I've compared it with the German veteran acquired example posted by Kelte in his recent thread (http://dev.wehrmacht-awards.com/foru...ad.php?t=37875) and I can see what appear to be obvious differences in the material and the yellow embriodery (style of lettering and the Acanthus designs). I've also gone over the Kreta cuff title on wehrmacht-awards.com and I can also see differences between the E-stand example and the example in the article (which appears to be the same style as Kelte's).
I just want to make sure that the E-stand example is not a genuine variation. Unless I get some overwhelming positive feedback from knowledgeable collectors in this forum I'll be waiting for a more "textbook" example to come along. If the E-stand example is genuine and sells in the meantime then so be it, I'll be better prepared to evaluate the next one that comes along!
All responses are appreciated - I'm here to learn!

I'm certainly no expert on these CT's neither. I only have one example in my collection and when I compare it to that one, the material of which it's seems to be made looks acceptable but the way in which the acanthus seems to be embrioded doesn't. Somehow everything seems to be touching everything, and I don't know if this is acceptable.
I have made some detailed photos of the above mentioned cufftitle and from
a second one of my collection. There are some details different, so please let me know, how do you think about it.

I like the second one you posted. Not only does the embroidery matches my example but lso does the cloth pattern.
Based upon the close-ups of the first on it's now clear that the cloth pattern is completely different and that the embroidery is of another quality too. Like I wrote above don't know if this is acceptable but I would pass on it.
I love your second cuff-title but I feel very uncomfortable with the one you are selling because of the following reasons:
1) the white cloth weaving pattern is wrong in my opinion
2) the gold colour is different to all others I have seen
3) I noticed that this is supposed to be the 'fat' letter type. I have never seen this type with joined acanthus (leaves if you know what I mean), this one does.
4) the back-side is not finished in the way I would expect of this 'fat letter type', I would expect gold stitching (from the front) and the edges also stitched.
can you also show us a picture of the inside stitching please.
I also do not like your KRETA. The white cloth should not appear on both sides of the gold braids on the edges, (the gold braid should be the absolute top and bottom of the cufftitle). The color of the braids is also wrong. There were not to many of these awarded, so variants are generally not accepted. Scott Pritchett wrote an excellent article on these, with lots of detailed pictures and items to look for on original KRETAs.

If it doesn't have a hinge and catch, I'm not interested......well, maybe a little

Many thanks for your response! I now know what I want when it comes to a KRETA cufftitle, thanks to all the great info on this forum. I'll figure out cloth items one of these days!
