I am sure it is genuine, but I have never seen one on a uniform. I would love to know what it is for.

I think I saw this one on a German web site. Original, but not FJ IMO. This style (with the reinforced border) is available in numerous color variations (olive, green, gray, blue-gray), but I too have yet to see one on a uniform.

Yes, they are very interesting. Other than the all gray style (which I have seen on the lightwegith flight jackets), I have yet to see them on uniforms.
