Shiot fellas, I would take that BSW bade in a heartbeat! That badge is 100% original in my opinion, perfectly textbook.
Not sure about the case or anything else, but that badge is perfect IMO.

Hi John,
What exactly don't you like about it?
The badge is sitting at an angle, which makes it a bit hard to judge. But, from what I see, the obverse and reverse die characteristics match original BSW's 100%. I don't see where they could differ at all.
The long, barrel hinge, maker mark and question mark - shaped catch are also all perfectly textbook IMO, so I would really be surprised if this is a reproduction. You can even see the yellow, brass hingepin, which is VERY typical of BSW Para badges, I really don't see a faker picking that up too unless I am missing something here.
I can't see the rivets well, but the silver color is typical of BSW badges and I think if we had closeups, we would see the textbook "pinch top" on them.
So, those are all my reasons why I think its an original. If its a fake, its one hell of a reproduction and I would really be interested to hear the points against it.
Thanks guys.

I must say the case looks quite good and the external textured covering looks right. From the photos the push button looks black...is it?
The wien makers often had cases that you wouldn't call standard. Maybe this case is one of them?
Personally I would like to see the badge straight on as I know the BSW has been faked extremely well.

Ofcourse we are all entitled to our opinions, but I would just like to know how this badge differs from textbook originals? Here is a textbook original, so where are the differences you guys are seeing??
You guys may be right, and it could be a reproduction. But if you are going to condemn a badge, you should be able to state a reason why in my opinion.

Hi guys,
John, thanks for the link, but the badge in that thread is NOT the same badge. The eagle's are totally different, the fake in that thread is based on an S&L design eagle. It also does not have the thin cutouts between the eagle's wings and tail. These cuts are VERY characteristic of BSW eagles, and the one that started this thread has the cutouts perfectly. The fake in that other thread does not.
The wreaths are also different, just concentrate on the 2nd laurel leaf, the fake one is indented near the tip, but BSW's are not.
Straight on shots of the badge would be more helpful, but I am 100% convinced its original IMHO.

Tom
I have not a big experience with badges and I can not say if this one is good or a fake.
The helmet is fake for sure.
