Some nice documents there Jürg. The Afrika band and German-Italian medal documents are always very tough to find to paratroopers. The doc for the FSA in cloth ( stoff ) is nice as well, as is the promotion. Not your typical little 4 document set. Nice find.

            question

Thanks Eric for the words. Well does anyone of you guys know what the markings on the VB for the cloth parabadge in the lower left corner means. It says:
            4.(145.K)
in book by Kurtz "German Paratrooper" is also an example out of Chris Masons collection. On this document is a similar marking > 11.(152.K)

            Any clue what this means.

              Barenthin grouping

              Hello Jürg,

Very nice little grouping you have there my friend => congratulations, i really mlike it !

The main problem with these Barenthin groupings is that the regt. in itself seems very little researched and therefore there is very little known etc .... about this one as to details, etc ...

For me it is can be put as the following for this Regt. => placed towards Afrika ( Tunesia to be more specific) in a hopeless attempt to turn the tie in Africa and actually in a nowadays look of the events more as a back up to save one Fieldmarschall !!! .

The regt. was formed from a scraping of many units from the German homeland and many of these soldiers where even in training (as i suppose this person was also! ) when they where placed into combat, needless to say that the losses where quite excessive.

It is my experience as with the Glider troops ( Erg.Gr (S) 2) that where involved in the fighting of this Regt. that the lucky ones who returned towards germany during 1942_1943 where actually always wounded or ill persons of some kind. the others where simply KIA or made POW to return home after quite a few years.

As far as i can tell your person had to be category one (wounded or ill by a tropical disease).

I will see iff i can find out more (not very likely)

Thanks for sharing and cordial greetings,

                Barenthin

                Hello Guys,

Here is another "Africa" award document from a soldier who was a part of the above named regiment "Barenthin", this person was not a FJ an scih but a trained Glider pilot.

Curious to see more?, check out the following link: http://dev.wehrmacht-awards.com/foru...ad.php?t=37906

                Cordial greetings,

ps: is there anyone who knows who's signature it is on teh Afrika award doc?
