the first image that comes to mind for smock type is the green step in. Though I think in development the splinter patterns are my favorite, especially this one, to be picky, would top it off for me to have the pull tab's

Who are the two guys who voted for the tropical jump smock??!!
Many are voting for their "favorite" smock. This was not the poll, but "what smock best represents the image of the WW II Fallschirmjäger?"
Obviously, IMHO, it will always be the splinter step in, for reasons stated in my book.Last edited by John Hodgin; 11-04-2009, 02:53 PM.Esse Quam Videri

Dear John,
Your opinion may be honestly held, but they were not called 'Splintertarn Devils' by their fellow countrymen, were they?
I believe that those of us who have voted for the M38/40 have been motivated by the 'images' of 1940 and 1941. True, the splinter smocks were in evidence in Crete, but not to the same extent as the earlier M38/40. To me, as I guess to many other enthusiasts, the image will always be the sweaty, grimey Jaeger of Crete, victorious in his green smock.
That is my honest opinion.
Cheers,
Hugh

I vote for the splinter for the "typically associated" with the FJ, although, marsch pattern just for the colors is my favorite Heer camo pattern, I realize the splinter are harder to find, but I prefer to collect what I like, and not what others define as 'must haves', simply personal preference.
