The HG formations fought in East Prussia and all the way back to near Dresden at the end of the war. Since so few of those members made it to the west it is impossible to know what uniforms they were wearing.

There is much we do not know about later Luftwaffe uniforms.
    Hi Willy,

Yes you are wright referring to the wool tunics in blaugrau or feldgrau... But in addition to the mentioned HBT's I really ment the green cotton ones, made of the same material as the tropical tunics. Me calling them M44 was not the correct way of referring to them. The ones I saw ... only three ever crossed my path.. were all dated M44 and that is why I deem them to be late war productions. (same model as the M43 heeres tunic? but in green cotton) I guess your point also stands for these tunics as to the M44! Indeed much we do not know about the Luftwaffe uniforms and generally Fliegerbluses being worn in the west until '44/ '45.

    thanks for your reply!

    Ruben

That is indeed the model i was referring to! I find these very attractive tunics. The fabric is heavier than the HBT fabric.

That is a great tunic! Last issue tropical tunic? It would make sense as by the middle of 1944 the Germans were pushed back to the north of Rome, so why not move from tan to green? Only speculation on my part.

That good very well be the case... I guess we will never know until we see a original picture. One of the three tunics I saw like this one I believe to be blue though. Just like the wool M44 tunics also two variations. I am sorry, but have no pictures of this blue tunic.

Just as with Luftwaffe HBT tunics, believe these were also produced in both green and blue-grey.

I have a green one which comes from Brest (Moulin blanc area).
My camera is out, i will try to scan the only HBT strap from this jacket.
              It's not a yellow one, it's a brown one.

              Regards
              Ben

Nice straps! Here is another set.

John, would you say this late green cotton tunic is similiar in construction to the earlier blue-gray cotton tunics? Or, do you think late tunics were also made in blue-gray?

Wouldn't it be something if we now encountered golden-yellow piped Luftwaffe straps in green cotton??

                            Hi Willi,

These are not like the early blue-grey tropical tunics as RKT Nowotny wears in Jos' photo.

These later smooth tunics, without pleated upper pockets, were produced in green and also blue-grey, just as the HBT tunics were.

What I would like to know is, does anyone have shoulder straps produced from the smooth green or blue grey material?!

That is something I was thinking also
