A few days ago I saw a pic of a pilot stationed in the far north - perhaps of the "Eismeerjäger"? - wearing such an item. Didn't remember exactly where but it could have been an ad for a book. The pilot hasn't bailed out, just was wearing it while he smiled into the camera.

A complete set for sale by dealer in US

Hi guys......i took a look on the posts and the discussion ...very interesting jacket. LW crew items are not my subject ....but....after seeing it i remembered a almost same jacket with trousers for sale on a American dealer site. It's not my thing so perhaps someone of you LW crew collectors might be interested in obtaining the set an got lucky this weekend.

I think it's not mothers finest....... but it's the first one i see for sale of this type.

      Here's the link....

      http://www.svmilitaria.com/GermanWWIIUniforms.htm

      Text on site:

This is the Luftwaffe issue winter camo set. There is some disagreement in collectors' circles of whether they are for Luftwaffe ski troops or not, but the legendary George Petersen aka Mr. Luftwaffe, who I have known for many years, thinks they it is standard winter como. The set is very solid and has an nice honest look. The color is a white that looks to have been subdued years ago to a off white or very light brown. There is a great eagle on white sewn to the front, and no, I will not sell it separately. This is a great chance to buy a rare Luftwaffe set of winter camo clothing, that does no come around too often!

      Item number: 90878 Price: $ 1025,00

      Regards

VERY interesting and a photo I have not seen anywhere before! Great job, RamJet!

Does anyone know if this item was also included in survival packs in cold weather territories (which is what I THOUGHT!)?

While doing research on these interesting items, I found out that a similar garment was used by the "L'armeé de l'armistice" - the Army of the Vichy-France-.
I know that this Army, with an allowed strenght of 100,000 , mostly used equipment, uniforms and weapons of the former, pre-WWII French Army.

I still need to dig deeper in some archives to find more about these, but I will provide you all with a first picture. The similarities, such as the external, rectangular pocket with straight-edged, button-down flap can be clearly seen.

                    I will keep you updated.

                    Take care,
                    Vincent S.
