Hello:

I took these photos on Kreta in May of last year and would like to know if any information is available about these two officers:

Inspektor Schmidt, Otto.
geb. 17.9.1912

gef. 20.5.1941

and

Oberleutnant Baagoe, Sophus
geb. 4.3.1915

gef. 14.5.1941

The second name is interesting along with the fact that he died 6 days before the operation.

Any information would be appreciated.

Re: Sophus Baagoe....Awarded a posthumous Ritterkreuz on 15.6.1941 as Oberleutnant in 5 Staffel, Zerstörer Geschwader 26 "Horst Wessel". He was shot down whilst flying Bf 110D-3 4290 by Squadron Leader Derrick Fitzgerald Westenra DFC & Bar on 14.5.1941 over Heraklion, Crete. Both pilot and airgunner Oberfeldwebel Becker were killed.
At the time of his death Oblt. Baagoe has complete 95 Feindflüge and had 14 Luftsiege of 2 which 2 were French and 12 British!
