    Parachute

What can you tell me about this. The only thing I know is that it's german and very heavy. I've been jumping with lightweigter chute so this feels like having a elephant on your back.

It's an RZ20 Fallschirmjager Parachute Rig and looks complete. Type in RZ20 into the search engine top right of this page and all your questions shall be answered!

            Best wishes, Paul.

Do you know how much they sell for today. I see one member writing on the forum that there was two rigs at the SOS selling for $2500 each. Is that a fair or high price.

                  Hi there

Yes, it's an RZ20. It seems to be in ok condition but it's not packed properly! The 2500$ US price I would say is good if those were complete and the canopy inside not having cut lines. In Europe RZ20s can be bought for the same in EUR but in most cases I have seen recently they had the bag and the metal container coming along. If you want to buy it I would strongly recommend opening it up on a sunny and windy day to properly check it out.

                  cheers
                  Uwe

Where can I find instructions how to pack this parachute. Don't want to open it if I can't repack it again.

                            Hi Jägermeister

Looks to be very complete! Nice chute.
Concerning packing it I am afraid I can not put it in words how to do it. If you weren't so far away I would say just pop by and in an hour it's done.
I will ask a friend of mine if he has the instructions for the T-10 on file, packing an RZ is very simular to packing a T-10.

                            cheers
                            Uwe

                              Maybee this helps:

                              1) stretch out the chute completely, and fold it like shown.

                              2) put the top (with the wind-opening) first inside the inner bag (where the static-line is fixed), and then "S"-shaped like all the way inside. This will need lots of power and sweat: after one 3rd of the chute is inside, the inner bag is already filled. To get the last 2 thirds in, you have to punch the bag like Max Schmeling.

                              3) Use a wire-hook to pull the 28 lines inside the loops outside the inner bag. Before pulling the lines through the lowest loops, close the flap, and secure it by pulling the lines through the remaining loops.

                              4) Put the inner bag inside the outer bag (fixed on the harness), close the flaps (again lots of power and sweat) - the one with the little string-loop first, the other 3 ones over the first one, the loop pull through the holes. Fix the loop with the small "key" fixed on the static-line.

                              Done!
