    Major Schmidt

    Hi guys,

    I am looking for informations about Herbert Schmidt. I know he commanded 1/FJR1 in Dombas and he was killled in Britanny in june 1944. If you know more.

    1937 5 Fallschirmjäger-Lehrgang Stendal
    1938 Kompanie-Offizier I.Batallion/FJRGT 1
    05/1940 Badly wounded in Norway
    1941 Luftkriegsakademie Berlin
    1942 Ia Luftwaffen-Feld-Division
    1944 Ia 2.FJ division
    16/06-1944 deadly wounded in Pontivy (France)

      Herbert Schmidt?

      The author of "Die Fallschirmjäger von Dombas"?
      Or is this an other Herbert Schmidt? (don´t think)

        Major Herbert Schmidt was known under the nickname of Dombas-Schmidt.
        He is indeed the author of the book "Die Fallschirmjäger von Dombas"...

          SCHMIDT, Herbert. (DOB: 03.10.12). (i.G.). (R). 24.05.40 Oblt., awarded Ritterkreuz, Kp.-Chef 1./Fsch. Jg.Rgt. 1. 01.10.42 appt Ia/1. Lw.-Felddivision (to 01.11.43). 01.01.44 promo to Maj. 01.05.44 appt Kdr. Fj-Ers.u.Ausb.Rgt. 3. 01.06.44 appt Ia/2. Fallschirmjäger-Div. (to 16.06.44 KIA).

          As an Ritterkreuzträger, there should be a couple of pages on him in the Biblio Verlag series.
