    Para Badge Check

Can we please discuss the merits of this late war zinc Para Badge? It was purchased by me in a veteran-hoard which was discussed here:

    http://dev.wehrmacht-awards.com/foru...ghlight=pickup

The badge was sold on my website here:

    Thanks!

Thanks, Andy. It was a vet pickup, and the collector had some doubts after showing it off at a local show of his. Glad to see there are no issues. Please - anybody else who cares to comment, I'd love to learn more about this type of Para badge. It was a very late war badge, as the vet picked it up, along with a bunch of other late war badges, all at the same time, and probably all from a store - probably. The vet had Alzheimer's at the time I purchased the group from his estate representative, or it would have been fun to talk to him to learn more.

I heard some guys talking about this badge at Union, but I personally didn't get to handle it. I will defer to others for comment as this style is not one I am familiar with. Here are the photos of it.

This appears to be a nice original by the "unknown maker" (?FLL) with a variant ?crimped in catch (normally they have a catch/catchplate). I can't really see any problems with this one. Even the type of cardboard box appears to match othe "unknown maker" boxed examples.

Here's a similar badge, although in lesser condition.

Can't speak for the half box, but the badge itself is just fine.
No worries about the hing, as it is a legit variation you can find on late war (1944) pieces

Nice badge and I agree with Gerd on the hinge part. But I can imagine some had their questions on this because these 'rounded' hinge plates are found on both pre and (mostly on)post WW2 periode badges. I have seen a few reproduction PAB's with this hinge & pin setup.
