Yeah, now that you mention it, I guess I was thinking the insignia may or may not have been period applied to FJ helmets similar to the DAK palm tree on regular combat helmets. I told you I wasn't a para helmet guy. Sorry for my inept remark

On the bright side, I have been actively searching for a period photo of the Afrikakorps palm tree/swastika insignia applied to a helmet. But, not surprisingly, I've come up empty so far. I am about to go through my new 350 page book I just bought on Afrikakorps uniforms, insignia, and equipment. Looks like a great book.

I agree that the bolts look like they have been turned.
I think the camo looks pretty good, but I'm not an expert.
The comet does not look like the few examples I have seen pictures of, but was there a standard for this non-standard unit marking???
The fact that it is red is also a bit off-putting.
Tough decision on this one.
Look forward to more input from you guys.
As I have moved to Hamburg, Germany, so I no longer get to attend the Union show.

Doug, I guess you are kinda far from the show! I think those bolts have been more than turned. Would have to see some more on the camo.....rim shots, etc. Might require a hands on.
