    Hi there

In late November 1943 2nd FJD transferred to ****omir in Russia, now under XXXXII. AK / Pz.AOK 4.

A part of the division remained in Italy however, and was used to form the FJD 4. The units were I. Bat./FJR 2, II. Bat./FJR 6 and I.Bat./FJR 7. The whole FJ Rgt 6 was now disbanded, with I. Bat/FJR 6 becoming the new I. Bat./FJ Rgt 7. Therefore 2nd FJD arrived in Russia with only two regiments.

    Hope this helps

      Hello,
I'm sorry to contradict you, but FJR6 was not disbanded at any time in its history.
II. and III. Bataillon went on to form new Regiments, while I. Bataillon under Hauptmann Oswald Finzel went to Russia with 2nd FJ Div.
Have a look at Willi Kammann's book "Der Weg der 2. Fallschirmjäger-Division".
Only on the retreat West after the battle of Kirowograd, the remnants of I./FJR6 was attached to FJR7, because of heavy losses. At this time, FJR6 was being reformed at Köln-Wahn under Major von der Heydte.
When 2. FJD came home from Russia and arrived at Wahn, the rebuilt FJR6 was leaving for Normandy and the 60 survivors after R+R were taken over by FJR7.

      best regards,
      Volker

        Many thanks, J******252;rg and Volker!
I have still found such information:
