Camo paint on battlefield relics

Hi

I have two FJ helmets that have faint traces on the crown of yellow/tan paint on them, and yet, there is not the slightest trace of blue paint that should be under the tan, or of insignia. Do any of the pro's have an explanation for this. I was thinking maybe the blue (that is already hard to see on some good condition helmets) became rust color over the years, and so is invisible. Any opinions?

Hi Jean, FJ helmets were never, ever, blue. So I am glad you cannot find this colour on them (Fakes do come in this colour!) They came in various shades of apple green to field grey and slate grey. I suspect that rust has made the paint hard to see?

Well said. I havent seen enaught good condition ones it looks like! I will try to post a picture of the yellow paint on my helmets some day, because it is surprising how visible the yellow is, compared to the green: invisible.
