Thanks,
I self do believe that this a Fallschirjäger unit that fought in Nijmegen around the roadbridge and was able to escape to the north together with Hartung and Kampfgruppe Nijmegen.
I have a account that about a Kompanie of Fallschirmjäger were in position at the Nijmegen bridge by the evening of the 17th.
The Fsj-A.O.K. Lehrstabes fur Offizierausbildung was at Nijmegen (= Hartung)... So maybe, about 110 strong. It could have been this unit that people saw arrive at Nijmegen bridge at the evening of the 17th.
Its may be possible that Hemsod was from Fallschirmjäger A.u.E. Regt 1 (Oberst Hencke... the same Hencke I named in another topic on this forum)
Hartung does mention Oberst Hencke in his account.
I have lots of books about MG available, problem they just copy everything from each other without doing a propper research. They use almost all the same source (Kershaw: it never snows in september) but I do know there are many and many mistakes in it, especialy about Nijmegen and Arnhem...
Had hoped we could nail Hemsod to a unit that would make it more clear.
I also started to wonder if the name Hemsod is correct written in the HG B account as I can find nothing on the web about persons with that name...
