Completely agree, a stellar collection and a custodian of much important history.

As you know I am not the "hardware" fan ... and more into papers and fotos... i also decided to post something very special from my point of view or collecting ...

It is a classbook of the very first jump courses in Stendal.

The owner was Karl Lineck - who later died in Norway - a participant of the first jump course together with Bruno Bräuer etc ...

In the classbook you can find the training schedule from day to day with early singnings from the instructors like Lineck, Zinke, Moll, Kroh, Immans, Reinsberger, etc ...

          Have a nice sunday!

Worn by a particular unit or person in Africa, John?

Greetings Anand. Yes, blue loops represent Battalion Burckhardt. This pair belonged to Karl Gräf from his first deployment to Afrika, 1/42 through 3/42.

Years ago a small packet arrived in the mail from Dr. Gräf and the straps were enclosed. Had no idea he was sending them to me, was thrilled and wrote him a letter of sincere thanks. A month or so afterward he passed. Still have his letters, and re-read them frequently. His letters and the straps are quite significant.

Karl Gräf, probably wearing the shoulder straps shown in previous post 426.
