It would be helpful if you could post additional photos of the Wehrpass. With the ones you posted I can only tell you the following:

His name was Andreas Scharnagl (Difficult to read), he was born in a Catholic family in Wiesau (Germany), the 28th of July of 1902, his father (Johannes Scharnagl) died in 1908. He was a german citizen.

In 1943, he attended a training course against spionage in Wiesau with a replacement unit (Stamm Kompanie Kraftfahr-Ausbildungs-Abteilung 13) (http://www.lexikon-der-wehrmacht.de/...AbtErs13-R.htm) in the Wehrkreis XIII.

If you post the other Wehrpass pages it will be possible to detail its military service, awards and wounds.

    Best regards,

    Josep

With these photos it is almost impossible to read anything. If possible, you should post better pictures.

I can only tell you the following but, as the photos are blurry, it is difficult to know if it is correct or not.

It seems he first was attached to the 1 Kompanie Krf. Ersatz Abteilung 46 (difficult to read) that was a replace and training unit from the 3rd of March of 1941 to the 10th of May of 1941. Then, he was attached to the Stab of the 22 or 28 Infanterie division? (cannot read well the entry) and it seems he was wounded in 1942 (?) impossible to read where and how, considering he was a driver (maybe horse or tractor driver) it is likely that it was due to a bomb shrapnel.

After that, it seems that he served in Replacement and training units:

Stamm Kompanie Kraftfahr Ersatz Abteilung 46 in Deggendorf (http://www.lexikon-der-wehrmacht.de/...Gliederung.htm) during 1943, and later, transferred to the 3 Kompanie of the same unit renamed Kraftfahr Ausbildung Abteilung 46.

In february of 1943 the unit was disolved and incorporated to the Kraftfahr Ausbildung Abteilung 13 (http://www.lexikon-der-wehrmacht.de/...Gliederung.htm) also in Deggendorf and he spend all 1943 with that unit).

It seems that he was promoted to the rank of Oberkraftfahrer (equivalent to Oberschütze).

It also seems that he received a medal by the Genesenden Kompanie (Convalescence company) of the Kraftfahr Ersatz Abteilung 46 and, considering that it is a convalescence company, I would tend to think that it was the Wound Badge in Black for one wound suffered.

I do not think that he was involved in combat after the wound he suffered.

        Hope it helps,

        Josep

            Hello !

I agree with most of the explanations by barkhorn1 and also that better scans are needed !

Some additional remarks on what is shown so far :
            p. 12 : I think it also could be 88. Inf.Div.
This division would have been raised in WK XIII and therefore match all the replacement units also from WK XIII.

            p. 23 : The award could be : Medaille Winterschlacht im Osten ?!

            p. 26 (?!) in post #1 : This is the most interesting entry for me !
            a) It is not a course against espionage but a typical information, done at the time of dismissal from military service,
that everything he became aware of during his service has to be kept secret.

            b) it also mentions the reason, why he was dismissed : Aktion "Rü 43 Tausch" !
This was one of the many tries to put more soldiers from the economy into the army, initiated by Minister Speer.
In this case [Aktion Rü 43 Tausch], ~200.000 men from the economy, that had been deemed kv. (full fit for service),
but with status "uk." should have been exchanged with the same number of men, currently within the Ersatzheer (replacement army),
which were only deemed fit for limited service (in this case : g.v.H.).

Below you can find a sinilar example, from a soldier who volunteered for service in Afrika, was wounded in Jan. 43
in Tunesia with Grenadesplinters in the head and after that wounding, was only "g.v.H.".
In Aug. 1943, he was dismissed for the same reason : Aktion "Rü 43 Tausch" and became "uk." !
(uk. = unabkömmlich = not to be drafted (because too important for the economy) ).

            Best regards,

              Dear Archi,

Thank you for correcting me, I did not know about the information in the page 26. Very interesting.

I also thought about being the Ostmedaille but without better pictures it is difficult to see it.

              Best regards,

              Josep

Archi was right and he was attached to the Stab of the 88 Infanterie Division before being transferred to the Genesenden Kompanie of the K.E.A. 46.

Additionally, he was awarded the Ostmedaille as Archi pointed and not the Wounded Badge in Black also by the K.E.A. 46.

In the page 32, you can see his battle record and it translates as the following:

11.5.1941 - 16.12.1941: Security action sin the Demarkationslinie and costal protection of the French Atlantic

17.12.1941 - 25.12.1941: Transport for use in the East Campaign

                    26.12.1941 - 4.2.1942: Defensive battles in Kursk

05.2.1942 - 1.3.1943: Service in the East Campaign

After that, it seems that your soldier was transferred (cannot read if he was wounded or not). I can only read, in the page 34, Samelstelle .... uberwiesen (Transferred to the collection point).

The other details are more or less as already discussed. He was trained in using the Gewehr 98, he was married with Helene Scharnagl (living in Wiesau) and he had the Führerschein Klasse I-III.

I hope it will help you.

If you have any question I will gladly try to help you as much as possible.

                    Best regards,

                    Josep
