    wonder if any one can tell me y most of the afrika soldbuchs have no pic just saw today a great book with 2 award docs and this guy was in some kind of long range desert group, out of my price range at the moment£400,verband something or other thanks doug

    Isnt it because photos were only introduced in 1944?

      yes, it is just because of the time that photos were introduced in soldbuchs.
      Most of the soldiers sent to Afrika were issued solduchs before photos were widely introduced.
      More of the Tunisia soldbuchs have photos than the Libya ones.

        Well actually the order went out in 1943 to insert a photo in the Soldbuch.

        The earliest I have in my collection is 6.10.1943 for the insertion of a photo, however most were actually introduced Spring/Summer of 1944.

        I have seen a DAK Soldbuch with a photo which I think was added during his PoW captivity, however the photo is in DAK uniform and overstamped in the Soldbuch! On a down side we could not determine the FP Nr. that was in the authorsing stamp to verify which unit it was!!!

        Below is an original order for the insertion of the photo.

              thanks was talking to a guy today that said there should be over 300 ss books on the market soon as they once belonged to a russian collector that was doing a book on them but now is going to sell we shall see

                allso are there any ruff ideas as to how many in the dak and would you have been drafted in from heer unit.some thing i have never known if you can help pleas

                  I think I would be more happier to find such a note rather to add another Soldbuch in my colection. Best is to find them together.. I guess..
