Thanks to all for your comments, I was searching for a nice RK holder Soldbuch from the Heer, but instead appears this, I always have wanted to pick up some nice Lufty pieces so I jump on this, I feel it nice for being such a well decorated pilot, no fighter one, but really hard won awards, now I must start buying books and finding web pages relating to LW units, now I want to now which type of aircrafts were flown in the units where he served and where and which type of missions he flown, of course any personal detail will be wellcomed, if he had any kill or any reference in books will be highly appreciated.

Something to give a more human face to war, bad news traveled in both directions and this time death news comes from the homeland.

Neat group! Your man was as close to being an infantryman as any Luftwaffe pilot could be! He was a low level reconnaissance pilot whose mission it was to provide tactical overhead imagery for ground units. Flying such missions in an environment where you don't have complete air superiority took some cojones. Recon pilots were awarded a fairly high proportion of awards for bravery, but are somewhat "unsung" compared to the bomber and fighter guys...

Thanks for your words Andy, but I think you mean "cojones" that can be translated as "balls".

I think also that recon pilots were the unsung heroes of the LW, all look at the fighter, the bombers and the close support units, but without the info from the recon pilots he could not be able to archive much of his success.

I'm waiting for any other info regarding this man and his units

Judging from the photo, he most likely flew the FW 189. The last unit entry for JG 110 is interesting. I'm not sure what their mission was, as they are listed as having operated numerous aircraft types
