To celebrate our friend new book about the CCC why not to show my last CCCiB Soldbuch.
As always I am open to any correction, update or extra information available about the soldier or the units where he served, specially names of the Officers in the Panzerjäger Abteilung 132.
Angel
Our man was born in Strassburg on July 2nd, 1.905 and he was evangelic and married to Ella Gonder at the time of his induction in the Wehrmacht (normal for a man his age)
His Soldbuch was open the day the war started September 1st, 1.939 with the number 54 and provided with his Dogtag number 67 2./Pz.Abw.Abt. 263 despite that his unit was notated as so the stamp was from 5(E) Kompanie, Panzerabwehrabteilung 33.
His career was meteoric and in less than two years he passed from EM to Officer:
Gefreiter on November 1st, 1.939 approved by 2./PzAbw.Abt. 263 on the same day
Unteroffizier on February 2nd, 1.940 approved by the same unit on March 15th. 1.940
Feldwebel on July 1st, 1.940 approved by the same unit on July 4th, 1.940
Leutnant on July 1st, 1.941 approved by Pz.Jäg.Abt. 132 on August 22nd, 1.941
Oberleutnant on April 1st, 1.943 approved by the same unit on May 15th, 1.943
With his first unit he took part in the French campaign fighting with it across Luxemburg, Belgium and finally France.First towards the Maas, Hierson, repelling enemy attacks in the Croat Chanel at La Fêre and advancing towards the rivers Marne and Seine and later to the Loire and Cher. After the capitulation the 263 was stationed in Bordeaux where he passes one third of his manpower to the new 132 Infanterie Division on October 3rd, 1.940.
During his service with this unit he was granted his first two leaves on January 1st, 1.940 and on July 25th, 1.940 to visit Niederlahnstein. Also received his first medal:
Iron Cross 2nd class on June 13th, 1.940.
As part of the creation of the 132 I.D. on October 25th, 1.940 was activated the Panzerjäger Abteilung 132 were our soldier will serve, in both 1 and 3 Kompanies and in its Stab.
With it he passed some time in Yugoslavia till the moment they took part into the Russian campaign marching to the south where he took part into the Crimen campaign till being redeployed in September 1.942 to the other extreme of Russia, the north in the Leningrad sector.
His service was rewarded with several medals:
Iron Cross 1st class on January 12th, 1.942 by 132 Infanterie Division, stamp Panz.Jg.Abt. 132
General Assault Badge on February 18th, 1.942 also by 132 I.D., stamp 1.Kp. Pz.Jag.Abt. 132
Ostmedaille on August 1st, 1.942
Krimschild on December 16th, 1.942, stamp with Fp erased, but this and Ost signed by same officer as GAB.
He received three leaves on February 21st, 1.941 and April 20th and December 9th, 1.942 all to Niedelahnstein
His service with this unit ended when he was transfer to the newly created schwere Heeres Panzerjäger Abteilung 667 on July 19th, 1.943.
Thjis type of units were created by order of the OKH on dates May 7th and 13th and they will be 7 distributed into Heeresgruppe Süd (3 units), Mitte (2 units) and Nord (2 units) and will be formed by three companies equipped with 12 motorized 8.8 Paks (Pak 43). On July 19th, 1.943 were officially created and asigned numbers: 661, 662 and 663 to H.Gr. Süd, 664 and 665 to H.Gr. Mitte and 666 and 667 to H.Gr. Nord.
On November 18th, 1.943 a further one was created and numbered 668 with H.Gr. D (Westen).
In September 6th and 11th another 3 Abteilungen were created, but with only 9 Pak per Kompanie and numbered 681, 682 and 683 to be ready on September 30th, 1.944.
Last batch of this units were ordered on September 16th and 21st also for three new units with 9 Pak per Kompanie and to be ready on October 31, 1.944 and numbered 684, 685, 686.
Our Officer unit was formed by Stab 132 Panzerjäger Abteilung 132 and the next companies 1./ Panzerjäger Abteilung 161, 2./Panzerjäger Abteilung 158 and 3./Panzerjäger Abteilung 132.
It always served with H.Gr.Nord as it was created for. On January 16th, 1.944 was assigned to L Korps, 18 Armee, H.Gr. Nord, on September 1.944 to Gruppe Kleffel, Army Detachment Grasser, H.Gr. Nord and on May 7th, 1.945 it was under 18 Armee, Heeres Gruppe Kurland.
It is clear he was with this unit since his formation as we have several entries in his Soldbuch made from this unit, what is not so clear is when he left it and was back to the 1./Panzerjäger Abteilung 132.
Entries done by s.H.Pz.Jg.Abt. 667 are:
Leave on August 12th, 1.943
Close Combat Clasp in Bronce on August 19th, 1.943, stamp has Fp erased, but is notated by the unit
Security check on December 1st, 1.943 with Kr.St.Nr. 3 and stamped by the unit
Leave on May 16th, 1.944 and Führerpaket on the same date.
All this are signed by Major und Abteilung Kommandeur Horst Franz Fritz Richard von Domarus (born on February 3rd, 1.913 in Dziekanka and died July 22nd, 1.975 in Jesberg-Reptich), ended the war as Oberstleutnant and received the EB on April 18th, 1.942 as Hauptmann und Kompanie Chef 1./P.Jäg.Abt. 52 and the DKiG on September 12th, 1.944 as major und Abteilung Kommandeur s.H.Pz.Jäg.Abt. 667 (only two soldiers received the DKiG serving with this unit and no EB or RK were awarded to members of it, the other soldier was Hauptmann Heinz Gollnau as Chef of the 1 Kompanie on August 25tth, 1.944)
First entry again by Panzerjäger Abteilung 132 is dated September 1st, 1.944 in his final Security Check matching his last unit entry on page 17 of his Kr.St.Nr 14. Surely he was not in the roster of the 667 dated December 1st, 1.944.
His last leave was a sad one as it was given to him as the result of the death of a family member (unfortunately no info about who was dead) and was given on April 1st, 1.945 and valid to April 18th so i wonder if he was with the unit in Kurland or outside the Kessel and if flown out doubt he could go in again at this late dates. The stamp is partially ilegible, but bottom part is Grossdeutschland, why is a mystery to me.
Thanks to the book In Deadly Combat by Gottlob Herbert Bidermann we can follow the footsteps of this division, but no further info about the Panzejäger Abteilung as he was an infantryman so any info is welcomed specially regarding the officers serving in the 132.
