Help understanding SS Soldbuch / "Der Fuhrer" Regiment

    Hello All,

I'm not particularly knowledgeable about Waffen SS organization or structure, nor about deciphering soldbuch. I was cleaning out the closet this past weekend, and ran across this soldbuch that I've had for probably 25 years. I was wondering if anyone could shed any light or interesting facts? It seems to me that this particular individual spent some serious time in hospital. Lots of interesting entries, that I just don't know much about.

    Thanks for any comments.

                    Hi Douglas,

Can't help with the wounds (as I don't read German) but I see he was awarded the wound badge in black, so not too severe a wound but maybe bad enough to inhibit his fitness for infantry, as it seems he got some Sig. training and was posted to signals company or some sort of sig. role with Totenkopf. (hence probably reason for no more combat awards).

Also looks like the soldbuch was opened with Der Furhrer reg. and he did his basic training with them but was then posted to Totenkopf (his first field unit).
So more a Totenkopf soldbuch than Der Fuhrer.

OK, some good info, Hofstetter. Thank you. I do see the LAH ink stamps.

I Think those LAH stamps are to do with his pay, not sure why it would be made by LAH , but I'm sure someone who knows a bit more will chime in and let us know.
(As well as if I got anything wrong in the previous reply.)

                          med

From p. 12 here are the medical problems with dates: 15.9.41 tonsillitis; 20.10.41 shot in abdomen; 29.11.41 ditto; 25.12.41 ditto; 18.7.42 shrapnel left forearm; 3.9.44 shot through left forearm; 28.2.45 T.bc; 7.5.45 T.bc; 2.6.45 T.bc

I do not know what the "T.bc" entry means.

                            Normally Tbc means Tuberkulose.

Great info. So this guy had some pretty serious wounds, it sounds like.
