    Good time for harvesting Panzergrenadiers

After my success with Werfer units now I am lucky with Panzergrenadiers ones.

First a nice EM one with a soldier serving with 2 Panzer Division.
Ernst Pilhvatsch was born on July 26th, 1.913 in Vienna.

His Soldbuch was open on August 24th, 1.941 so he probably missed the French campaign and go directly to the Eastenr Front with his combat unit, the 2./Schützen Regiment 2.

    He was promoted two times:
to Gefreiter on April 1st, 1.942 confirmed the same day by 2./S.R. 2
    to Obergefreiter on September 1st, 1.943 confirmed on 14th by 18./St-O.-Btl. z.b.V. V

His only combat unit was the 2 company of Schützen Regiment 2, later changed to Panzergrenadier Regiment 2.

His combat tour was cut short when wounded at the end of April 1.942 by a bullet and he was sent to the hospital first in Lowicz then in Goslar where he was released to Schützen Ersatz Batailon 2 on February 2nd, 1.943.

In my opinion he never saw combat in Normandy as he was still with Pz.Gren.Ers.Ausb.Btl. 2 on November 9th, 1.944 when he was granted a leave till November 26th.

After this he received equipment on December 1st, including helmet and cartridge pouches so I think he fought in the Bulge.

During his wartime he received a good array of medals,

Wound Badge in Black on May 13th, 1.942
Iron Cross 2nd class on April 26th, 1.942
      Ostmedaille on September 8th, 1.942
Panzer Assault Badge on June 10, 1.942

The first three validated by the Reserve Lazarett Goslar and the last by Pz.Gren.Ers.Btl. 2

Later if sun light allow me to take good pictures I will show two other Soldbuchs, if not tomorrow.
