    Warning under SB Id Photo

    Hi guys,

is it a common paper in a SB or is it a little special ?

This man is linked to Wehrkreisunterführerlehrgang V at Münsingen late 1944, but maybe it has nothing to do with the owner profil.

    it says :

" In captivity I am ony allowed to give my name, rank and home address - nothing more!

If I say more I will brake my soldier's oath and I am a dishonourable traitor of my country."

    thank you for your help

Can't say I have seen it like that, however I do have Merkblätter in the back of Soldbuch saying much the same...i.e. name, rank and number......will see if I can find one.

This Paper has to be put in Soldbücher from divisions of the 1st german Army at the end of september 1944, and even perhaps the whole Army Group "G", not sure about that. Regularly seen in 17.SS-Pz.Gren.Rgt.17 "GvB", 559.V.G.D., Pz.Brig.106 "FHH" for Soldiers who took part to the Battle of Lorraine in autumn 1944.

Here a GvB Example. I have numerous example, mostly not glued on the SB, and mostly on a very thin, almost transparent Paper.

It would be interested to know the Unit of your Guy in Sept.44 !

            Thank you guys !

            Awesome Lionel...my SB is a NCO Volksgrenadier Regiment 1120 / 553 Grenadier-Division discussed here : http://dev.wehrmacht-awards.com/foru...d.php?t=935174

Do you know why only the Army Group "G had this obligation ? Maybe because this Group had one step in the grave since 1944.

Your guy is in the same Group Ian Jewison ?

              553.V.G.D., Lorraine campaign, everything matchs....

Don't know the exact reason. Perhaps due to the high Number of M.I.A. Soldiers, during the Retreat from Normandy to the eastern Part of France, including an important percentage of surrendering / deserting Soldiers....
