Hi Ian, the date is late war as you can see and not filled out in it's entirety either. I have noticed from doing basic searches on other member's of K.G. 4 that all infornation is not filled in.

For example Hans Joachim Rath. It only has his DKiG mentioned on Traces of War but I believe he was awarded the Knight's Cross of the Iron Cross on 5th September 1942 as Oberst und Geschwaderkommodore. That's why I alway's like to double check here on the forum.

Although 'Zweitschrifft' issue documents, they do make a nice little set which will provide a decent research opportunity (have you purchased these?) especially with the help of the 'Kampfgeschwader 4 "General Wever" book by Gundelach, and numerous other related published books which are readily available.

The Wehrpass is nice in that it does have a uniform photo, and several entries which will help you build a nice presentation of his career.

        Regards Richard.
Always looking for Luftwaffe Kampfflieger related document groups. In particular anything to Kampfgeschwader 2.

          Thank you Richard.

I'll search out the book by Gundelach that you have mentioned.
