As you know I am a keen collector of Soldbücher und Wehrpässe, also unusual documents. When I saw this little gem I had to have it......
It is the first I have ever seen, a Lichtbild Ausweis or photo document of Identification to be used in conjunction with the Soldbuch.
It was issued 10.12.1942 to Oberfeldwebel Alfred Neubauer by the Hauskommandant Hotel Miramau, Wehrmachtserholungsheim Ospedaletti.
As those who have an interest in Soldbücher and can remember my thread Lichtbild im Soldbuch. OKW 16.11.1943 (AHM 43, Ziff. 868) some years ago, Soldbuch photos were attached at the very earliest September 1943 (rare one have been seen May 1943!!!), with the majority starting in 1944 (excluding Kriegsmarine!).
So this little item is unusual and preceeds the order by at least 6 months!...shame there was no Soldbuch with it!
