Let's start with the units Poddig served with.

His Soldbuch, issued on 27. Juni 1941 shows serve in various coastal artillery and Flak units:

Marine Flak Abt. 809 in Nantes

then transferred to Marine Flak Abt. in St. Nazaire-Montoir where he was awarded the Eisernes Kreuz 1. Klasse on 8.6. 1944 and was taken prisoner on 24. August 1944.

Great set! It'd be interesting to know what he did to earn both EKs. Any chance of finding out what unit he was with in mid '41?

            (15.7.1942-24.1.1943) Stab u. 1.-7. Batterie Marine-Flak-Abteilung 803, dann Stab u. 1.-6. Batterie Marine-Flak-Abteilung 803

              Very nice group indeed !
But he cannot has been in "Normandy" (Saint-Nazaire is not in Normandy) or in Brest when he was captured on 24 august 44 because his first captivity place is the town of Hyeres, near Toulon, in southern France. The french captivity is also a good sign for that.

According to the seller, Poddig served on the Emden before the war. Does anyone have crew lists of this ship?

Here details of the Temporary Wehrmachts Führerschein issued on 6. November 1940 and the Fahrerlaubnis also issued on 6. November 1940.

...along with the certificate for taking part in the training for commanding heavy Flak units.
