                                12. Kp. was not only an MG coy but also a mortar support unit. Normaly, in such infantry unit, 2 Zuges had sMG and 1 Zug was equipated with 8 cm Gr. W. And this soldier seem to have been a mortar crew, as his Wp.'s p. 20 shows.
                                It's not complety surprising that III./1057 realised secretarial operations in july. As you know, 91.ID was near destroyed in Cotentin battle but a Kpfgr. continued the fight until august, mixed with 243. ID and sometimes 77.ID survivors.
